Waterfall
It
is being rainy season, now people can enjoy natural bath under
waterfalls. There are many beautiful waterfalls in Malshez
Ghat and also Zenith waterfall at Khopoli are always crowded
by tourist for their natural beauty. In Thane, nearby Navi
Mumbai, there are two waterfalls with their natural beauty,
which are less crowded. In this near by area, being an industrial
belt there are tall smoke chimanis instead of tall trees.
But still the area surrounding Gavlidev Mandir in Mahape village
is always full with greenery. Gavlidev is known as god of
cowherds (Gawalis) since ancient times. Temple area is surrounded
by trees and there is a beautiful tree of Champak near the
small Ganapati temple. The open place around the Mandir can
be used for playing and boarding. Behind the temple there
is a waterfall.
From
this place if you go towards Konkan Bhavan, you will find
one more waterfall known as Pandav Prapat. Prapat means waterfall.
Pandav had stayed here during their dwelling in the wood,
that is why this waterfall is known as Pandav Prapat. To go
to this waterfall, travelers have to get down at next stop
to Konkan Bhavan. From there travelers have to walk down by
the straight road which reach to the waterfall. The waterfall
is surrounded with natural beauty. Visitors are required to
climb by the hilly road from the right side of this waterfall
to see the natural cave.
How
to Visit Gavlidav waterfall :
Bus service is available from Dombivli and Thane to Mahape.
Visitors traveling from Thane can travel by N.M.M.T. bus or
S.T. bus going towards Panvel and have to alight at Mahape
Naka. From there visitors can travel by MIDC road behind Nocil
Company for Gavlidev waterfall. Visitors traveling from Dombivli
have to travel by Shilphata - pipeline road and get down at
Mahape village.
