Aarohi
for women
Atrocities
on women is a recur feature in several parts of the country
and same as in the world. As world is celebrating women's
consolidation year. Some positive efforts are on to extend
the hand of 10 operations towards atroced women. Aarohi is
one of them.
Aarohi
is a counseling centre set up in Thane Municipal Corporation's
Chhatrapati Shivaji Hospital, Kalwa. Tata social science,
Mumbai and Thane Municipal Corporation jointly in co-orporation
with United Nation Population Fund (UNPF). On 8th March i.e.
Women's Day the centre was inaugurated. Uptill noew centre
has received 40 complaints from Thane district. Out of which
35 are related with atrocities on women which is significant
to be noted.
The
unique feature about this centre is, it has situated in the
hospital only the reason behind it is important. The first
place where atroced women can be located is hospital where
women may counsel and set help parallel to medical help. The
information given by concerned women is kept confidential.
Another
feature of the Aarohi centre is that it is running the help-line
for youth. Youngsters are more vulnerable to several psychological
problems because they are under some physical and mental changes
in this period. They require councelling in several matters
such as sex, addiction, emotional relations, etc. Aarohi gives
it to the youngsters. You just have to call on 5402624 between
1.30 P.M. to 3.30 P.M.. Women can contact counselors in person
in daytime.
There
is another side to coin. Aarohi is the brighter picture of
Indian Society. As it got meaning Aarohi truly doing positive
development.
